For Inquiry, we had a table and we could pick what task we wanted to do I picked to write a movie review and I picked the movie Home Alone
Here is my review :D
Home Alone is an awesome movie. It is one of my top favorite movies released ever!
Out of 10, I would for sure rate it a 10 out of 10 it is just too amazing to be true. The main character Kevin
has been in two of the movies out of the four of the home alone movies there are on Disney+.
Home alone is not on Netflix it is only on Disney+ and you can download it too. Kevin the original
character in the movie Home alone and home alone 2 is now 40 years old and he was 8 years old when
the movie was being filmed in 1990 between February and May. Home alone has two burglars named Harry and Marv.

I hope you like my Movie review
If you have not watched the movie do you have any questions that I can answer just comment them I will answer as fast as possible.

In the first week it was kinda boring I had a sleepover with my BEST FRIEND Sophia D on Tuesday night of the first week and went swimming because I had swimming lessons and when we were at QEll we saw our other friend Valley and we hang out with her at the pool. I then had a boring rest of the week until Friday came My family and I all went to our bach in Akaroa and spent 2 nights there, Here is what Akaroa looks like:
I had a really fun time there and we are going back in a couple of weeks.

This weeks experiment was seeing what solute would dissolve in warm water the quickest.
I thought the citric acid would.
I decided to present this on a adobe spark web page so here it is:

In Yellowstone wolves are perfect for the environment, they have helped the environment by making a bigger population of animals in the area like
otters and song Birds.
In France, wolves are very terribly vicious and frightening, and not a lot of people like them.
I love them and I feel like should not be treated the way they are!

Wondering: I know that salt eats away at ice quick but can any other substance do the same?.
Hypothesis: I think Sugar will eat away at the ice the quickest.
Materials: Salt, Baking soda, Citric acid, Sand, Sugar, Containers, Ice, Measuring Spoons, Flat Surface, Timer, Measuring Cup.
Variables:
Controlled: The amount, Temperature, Size, Timing,
Independent: We changed the liquid to powder
Dependent: What we observe - Powder, Ice, Time
Procedure:
Pour ½ a cup of water into the containers that you are going to use for the experiment
Freeze the ice overnight
Kia Ora Team
This is my ice scientific report
Measure and pour ¼ of a cup of each power into a seperate bowl each with the ice in the bowls.
Pour the powders onto the ice containers at the same time, while you pour the powder onto the ice, spread it around the ice so that it speeds up the process of the powders eating away at the ice.
As soon as the powders hit the ice start timing and observe the process
Results/Observations:
The citric acid, Baking powder and sugar are mixing threw into the ice
The sugar looks like it is turning into liquid but the salt is observing the ice
The sand might possibly come last because it is doing nothing to the ice
The citric acid looks like a slushie
The sugar has a platform of ice on top
There are some air bubbles in the ice on the citric acid
The salt came first with 1h:14m
Conclusion:
The salt interferes with the salt and makes crystals and mixies with the water that has already melted with heat and speeds up the process. My hypothesis ( I think Sugar will eat away at the ice the quickest ) proved me wrong and the salt melted the Ice the quickest. A real life situation where you can use Salt is during winter when your concrete path or steps just sprinkle salt on the ice to melt it so your steps or path aren’t slippery.

Some ways to clean up oil are using absorbers such as hay, straw, booms, and hair. The boom contains the absorbent and is used straight away to try to limit the spread of the oil.
Some other ways to clean up oil are burning the oil in situ. However, the smoke can also have an impact on the environment. Dispersants can also be used. Dispersants speed up the process of breaking down the oil and this then goes into the water.
We simulated this by using vegetable oil in water, with food colouring to simulate the chemicals in the oil that we tried to clean up with cotton as our boom, and materials such as tissue paper and kitchen roll for absorbers. We then use dishwashing liquid to simulate the dispersant.
What we noticed was that the dishwashing liquid (dispersant), broke up the oil, but it was much more difficult to contain. Here is my video of my adobe spark that I made:

It has been really fun today we made some parachutes. I made mine with my 1 of my best friends Sophia/Phia.
I am really happy with the time it took our parachute to drop for upstairs it took 2.89. Sophia and I were in the lead for about 15m but then we got out beaten:C
We are happy with the time because it is better than our first parachute, Our first parachute too 0.93 so it is way better than our first one.
During this parachute making challenge we made 2 parachutes and we REALLY liked our second one way better than the first one we made.
Sophia broke and ripped our first one because she forgot that we need a photo of it so I am sorry I have no photo of our first one. Sophia and I made a google slide about our parachute making so here it is:
WE CAME 2nd YAY
Kia ora bloggers,
When reading a book, have you ever been curious about something you were reading, and wanted to find out more to help you understand what you were reading better? We have been learning about how important this is this week in Literacy.
When we read The Magic School Bus inside the human body’ I formed some advanced questions using ‘how’ and ‘why’. I made sure they were open ended questions that would help me understand the book more. An example of one of my questions was “Why are intestines coiled up?’ and I then researched and found out that an adults intestine is 7.5m long, so it needs to coil up so that it fits in the body.
Next we got to chose our own book to read out of our virtual library and we had to form 3 advanced questions about it. Our create task this week was to share these in a creative way. I chose to do it with Renderforest and it was about a book called ‘Cicadas’
I really enjoyed this task as it made me realise how important it is to do this when reading to understand the text better.
Do you ever do further research when you are reading a book to deepen your understanding?
