Why we should care for our oceans!

Today I made a poster on canva again :) This time it was on why we should care for our oceans. I made this for inquiry. I really enjoyed making this one because I really enjoy doing things located to the topic of oceans/water! I first off put in the text boxes and little plant things and started thinking of reasons why we should care for our oceans. I really want our sea creatures to live a good little life without eating plastics and dying from someone fishing them :( I really support the people that go out and care for the animals and help to save their lives! These are the reasons I think we should take more care of our oceans! 

1. We need our ocean to help us to breath

2. If we don't take care of it, the ocean will go and the earth will be very dry

3. The poor fish that get killed for doing nothing bad

4. If we don't care there would be no ocean

Propaganda poster!

Were back to distance learning :( I would prefer to be at school especially to finish my last term and a half at Marshland not online! Well anyways in literacy yesterday I figured out what propaganda is, It means a false bit of information to make people think it's better than it actually is. After I figured out what it meant I had to make a poster with a message on Propaganda, I made my poster on Canva because it's easy to use and I don't know a poster I've made that's not on Canva. I really enjoyed making it because it was fun to make a message about it! I also really enjoyed it cause Canva is really fun to use. I did my poster about a new restaurant in town that sells spaghetti and is saying its the best spaghetti in town to make more people come. Here is my poster:

The fish of Maui

 Kia Ora Team. 

Today we did a poster animation on the fish of Maui. I worked with Molly, Angelica, Lilly, and Owen. We made our animation on renderforest. I think our animation is ok, I think next time we could make it a little longer and make it on something that has more choices of backgrounds to use. At the end of the story, there is an Octopus that Maui fights but we tried to add it but it wouldn't work. Here is our video animation of "The fish of Maui"

Matariki Kites!!

Happy Matariki everyone! 

On the 2 July we celebrated the Māori New Year, a time to consider the year ahead. The days are starting to lengthen and spring will soon be here, we just need to get through this cold winter first! 

Matariki and the Pleiades star cluster, have got many stories attached to them. We looked at two; one about how Ranginui and Papatuanuku were separated by Tāne Mahuta, and how Tāwhirimatea was so angry he ripped out his eyes and threw thunderbolts to the sky, creating the cluster, and another story about 7 sisters making kites, and them going to the sky. Ururangi’s kite was different from the rest, it was rainbow-colored. We have mixed these big things with me two stories to create the design of our kites.

Maori new year - matariki

Lately, we have been doing foam printing of Matariki and some mountains. I drew some swirls around my stars to make them look cool. 

God will punish you- essay

In literacy, we have been reading the book holes and learning how to write an essay. We used the structure TEXAS which means 

T - Topic sentence 

E - Explain & expand 

X - Examples

A - Analysis 

S - Summarie 

I enjoined learning about texas because it was fun to figure out what parts belong in an essay. We had to write our Essay on the quote " God will punish you " A girl named Hattie said this in the novel Holes by Louis Sachar, you will find out why she said, " God will punish you " soon if you want to read my Essay! Our essay had to be at least five paragraphs long. I have five with a little conclusion at the end :) 

I wrote my essay on Google docs so here is my essay about " God will punish you" : 

When Hattie said “god will punish you,” I think she's meaning god will punish Trout Walker. Some of the reasons why I think god will punish Trout is because after Sam and Katherine kissed and Hattie caught them Hattie went and told Trout and Trout said that they will be punished. Little did Sam know the punishment was Trout killing him. Katherine’s punishment for kissing Sam was her schoolhouse getting burnt down. After Trout killed Sam, Green Lake dried up and got abandoned. 

Everyone in Green lake left, Passed away and Green Lake turned out to be nothing but bland old land. Trout wasn't happy about Green Lake getting abandoned because his daddy owned the lake and they earned a lot of money and were a rich family. After everyone left the lake wasn't getting used as much and that meant that Trout’s family wasn't getting much money, which meant that Trout’s family was becoming a little poor.

Then something happened that no one was expecting, Katherine became an outlaw. Just because Katherine became an outlaw and changed her name to Kate doesn't mean she does not miss Sam, She misses Sam so much that she's putting her mood on other people. Now that Kate is an outlaw she started killing people and kissed them on the cheek after she had killed them.

Trout didn't like that Sam and Kate liked each other, there are two reasons why. Trout liked Kate and wanted to be the one that kissed Kate instead of Sam and in Green Lake black men aren't allowed to be with white women. Later on, Trout found out that Kate had buried the loot, Trout was desperate to find that loot and was demanding Kate take him to where the loot was buried.

If there was no racism none of this Green Lake drama would have happened and Sam wouldn't have been killed and Katherine wouldn't have become an outlaw and changed to Kate Barlow. Most importantly Green Lake wouldn't have dried up. 

So in conclusion I think that God punished Trout because Green Lake, the lake that his dad owned, dried up and his family became poor and the girl that he liked kissed another man.

Preimeter, Area, Volume

In Maths we have to learn Perimeter, Area, Volume. Our task was to make a slide about how to figure out Perimeter, Area, Volume so I made mine on google slides cause it's easy and fun to use. On my slide, I wrote how to figure it out with the shape and sizes as well as me figuring it out.
